Health and Safety Information
EXTREME WEATHER POLICY
Bowls Australia have issued extensive
guidelines, not instructions, in relation to stopping play or competition
when severe weather strikes. This detailed information is available from
the Secretary.
At St Lucia Bowling Club the individual member can decide
to stop playing at any time they feel uncomfortable in either the weather
e.g. heat, humidity, rain or in their own wellbeing.
Bowls Australia advises that where possible clubs should
usually continue playing where they are able to do so, however, player and
official safety will remain the paramount consideration.
The decision whether to suspend or discontinue play is at
the discretion of the controlling body. In Social play this is out Games
Director or his nominee. In Pennant, it will be the teams manager after
consultation with the opposition and umpires.
All players, officials and spectators are encouraged to
wear hats or other head protection at all times.
Where the temperature reaches 38 degrees, it is
recommended play/competition be discontinued.
As previously advised it is recommended each member has a
St Lucia Bowling Club Medical Card in their wallet.
- Heat Exhaustion Arrangements have been made with the Ladies Club to have access to the couch in their Rest Room should it be necessary to have a member treated for heat exhaustion or for any other sudden illness or injury. A portable fan is available there for use if needed.
- Resuscitation
An oxygen bottle with face mask is available inside the door of the club-house together with a manual pump for CPR purposes.
- First Aid Cabinet This is located in the kitchen on the wall near the refrigerator. It contains dressings for minor injuries, and mild pain killers.
- Fire Extinguishers
One
extinguisher is located in the kitchen and one in the bar near the door to
the back room. A hose reel is located on the wall near the kitchen servery.
- Fire Blanket This is located in the kitchen on the wall near the ovens.
- Smoking
Permitted in designated zones only. Not permitted in Club house or on
the greens.
